COOL:Gen Migration to COBOL, Java, or C#

Legacy IT assets can include large-scale applications developed with a 4GL like COOL:Gen (also Advantage™ Gen)*. The proprietary COOL:Gen COBOL generator is ineffective at lowering maintenance costs - these large applications have become overly complicated and resource-intensive. The generated code requires a COOL:Gen runtime, and must be maintained within the COOL:Gen environment. In addition, COOL:Gen programmers have also become increasingly difficult to find.

The COOL:Gen Migration Solution

The solution is to migrate the COOL:Gen application to a common maintenance language. Our solution is a high-efficiency toolset that can migrate the application to COBOL, Java, or C#. The tool generates native COBOL that can be edited and maintained using any standard text editor. There is no residual runtime or "black box". The result is higher quality COBOL without the excessive code - more reliable than hand-coded COBOL with fewer errors, customized to your particular needs and specifications. With some additional parsing in our repository, industry standard Java or C# can also be generated.

COOLGen migrations (or Advantage Gen, AllFusion Gen, IEF Software) can be complicated, therefore it is crucial to prepare a detailed roadmap for the migration.
