Customer: The Banco Espirito Santo (BES) is the second largest bank in Portugal.
Business Needs: As part of an overall plan to rationalize, modernize, and improve their banking services, BES merged operations with Banco Internacional de Credito (BIC). The merger included consolidating the two IT departments into one that would supply all system needs.
IT Needs: The merger required migrating several data environments (RMS and RDB) to DB2 on MVS and Unix systems. The project consisted of migrating the databases to the DB2 database structure of the target application, based on a set of rules provided by the customer.
Solution: The BluePhoenix IT Discovery solution was used to map both source and target systems, providing a layout of the business rules used on both ends. The BluePhoenix DataMigrator tool was used to edit the source files (VMS, RDB, and RMS) to match the target systems and their business rules (MVS and Unix). Over 180 DB2 tables (130 tables plus 50 views) and 30 VSAM files were migrated to MVS DB2 and several tables to Unix Sybase.
Partner: The partner for this project was Capgemini Portugal who contributed the project management expertise, working as the integrator in this multi-skilled project that involved process management, people management, and technology. |
