Customer: Illinois Secretary of State
Business Needs: The SOS application system annually processes over 4.5 million driver’s license renewals, 10 million vehicle registrations and 3 million titles. Daily online transaction volumes often exceed 500,000. In migrating from a Bull DPS90/94, GCOS8, IDS- II environment it was crucial that the target environment provide high performance online transaction processing and the ability to reduce the batch-processing window. The IBM 9672/R45 using OS/390, CICS and DB2 meets those requirements, significantly reducing the nightly batch window and average online response time.
IT Needs: The “Technology Refresh Project” involved migrating 44 applications comprised of 929 online TP programs, 1,464 batch Cobol programs and 730 IDS-II record types. The applications included such critical Secretary of State Services as Drivers License, Motor Vehicle Registration, License Plates and Titles.
Solution: The proven BluePhoenix PlatformMigrator tools and methodology was used to successfully complete the three-year project. Supporting this effort was a team comprised of prime contractor IBM and Bull conversion specialist and IBM subcontractor, BluePhoenix Solutions. |
