Customer: LBS Westdeutsche Landesbausparkasse (LBS West) is an independent company within the German Savings Bank Association. LBS West, the largest Landesbausparkasse in Germany, offers mortgage services to private customers, and is part of the German LBS Group consisting of 11 building societies that service 9 million customers with contracts totaling over € 218 billion.

Business Needs: LBS West needed to upgrade their back office application and information system.
Solution: Using the BluePhoenix AppBuilder product, LBS NEU, a complete client/server system was built. The system processes and maintains data for 1.9 million customers and 2.6 million accounts, supporting all transactions throughout the entire contract and customer lifecycle. The architecture of LBS NEU has proven to be quite flexible, as various components have been Web-enabled over time.
Future: The LBS system is the most modern back office system for Bausparkassen in Germany and is going to become standard software in the German Bauspar-Market. In addition to LBS West, two other "Landesbausparkassen" (LBS) are already using LBS NEU in production, and two more plan to have LBS NEU fully implemented by 2004.
