Customer: Merrill Lynch is one of the world's leading financial management and advisory companies with offices in 43 countries and total client assets of about $1.8 trillion. As an investment bank, it is the top global underwriter and market maker of debt and equity securities and a leading strategic advisor to corporations, governments, institutions, and individuals worldwide.
Technical Needs: Merrill Lynch required a dynamic technology to convert the raw data within their software inventory into the strategic mapping and cross-reference information required for managing and operating a complex MVS data installation.
Solution: The BluePhoenix IT Discovery product provided them with comprehensive, updated, and detailed information about all OS/390 (MVS) system software components, including their interrelationships and the interfaces between applications. These components include programs, files, databases, procedures, utilities, and other software entities that make up a computer environment. The capability of OperationsWarehouse to map key metadata, to analyze software components and their interrelationships, coupled with Merrill Lynch’s own systems and the insightful and creative use by Merrill Lynch Global Data Management Group, produced a dynamic facility that is used by Merrill Lynch to manage its data operations.
