Herzliya, Israel, July, 1998 -- Crystal Systems Solutions (Nasdaq: CRYSF), a leading provider of software conversion tools and services, announced today that it was chosen by IBM Israel to market IBM's new millennium tool - Millennium Language Extension (MLE) in Israel. MLE is IBM's patent-pending technology that supports date field windowing and date field expansion - at the compiler stage - without actually changing actual program procedure code.
"Crystal Systems Solutions is offering the market an extension of our C-MILL and C-MILL Pro products which can now produce MLE compatible code", says Ben Levy, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Crystal Systems Solutions. "Our customers will be able to choose between attaining year-2000 compliance using C-MILL and its year-2000 windowing techniques or using Crystal Systems Solutions' conversion tools in conjunction with MLE".
Crystal's C-MILL tool is a natural complement to MLE in that it can automate much of the groundwork that facilitates the execution of MLE. C-MILL assists MLE by performing automatic identification of date fields and their associated fields, defining these fields to MLE in accordance with MLE requirements, and reducing the percentage of compilation errors. The combined performance of C-MILL and MLE bypasses manual fixes, shortens the conversion process, and ensures a high degree of conversion accuracy.
"As MLE requires COBOL/370 which is not the most prevalent version of COBOL in use, for applications worldwide, we see another opportunity for our company in converting older versions of COBOL to COBOL/370", continued Ben Levy. "We have performed many such COBOL conversion projects in the past, and are therefore well placed to implement MLE as part of application upgrades to COBOL/370."
